LEWISTON — Gabrielle Labrecque, 89, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, April 16, at Marshwood Nursing Home.

She was born in Lewiston, July 29, 1922, to Adelard and Valeda (Gagne) Poisson. She lived in Lewiston all of her life, marrying Laurent Labrecque in 1949.

She was employed as a nurse’s aid at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well as other area nursing homes throughout her early adult life, also working in various shoe shops.

She was always a hard worker and a person who never gave up even during harsh adversities.

She enjoyed sewing, camping and beano later in life, but most of all she enjoyed her large family, always wanting to be included in every family gathering. She always said she would live a long life because she had to hold and rock her amazing 26 great-grandchildren, and that she did, and knew them all by name.

She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Susan Madore and husband, Paul, of Lewiston; her beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Ethan and Rose Madore, Catherine and Jonathan Burnham, Jessica and Paul Ramsden, Isaac and Andre Madore, all of Lewiston, Seth and Cathy Madore of Gray, Jeremy and Jenn Madore of North Andover, Mass., Christian and Kate Madore of Lisbon and Joshua and Lindsay Madore of Bethel Park, Pa.; her amazing 26 great-grandchildren, Anna, Kristene, Alicia, Kimberly, Laura, Sean, David, Kathleen, Cynthia, Cassandra, Andrew, Samantha, Sarah, Damian, Malachi, Clara, Emily, Lucia, Abigail and Sienna Madore, Samuel, Daniel, Jacob and Hannah Burnham, and Mia and Matthew Ramsden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Laurent; and was the last survivor of her five siblings.

She will be sadly missed and remembered by all who loved her so much, especially her daughter, Susan.
