FARMINGTON — “The Human Experience,” a two-act play written and directed by Emily Pottle, a lifelong Farmington resident, will be presented in early May.

The story follows Molly (played by Samantha Ellis), Amy (Tiarra LaPierre)  and Jennifer (Katie Tilton), three young, recently deceased women preparing to enter the eternal afterlife.

Before their final ascension, however, they are met by gate-keeper Janus (Eric Buckhalter), who has one last task for them. In order to depart from humanity, the three must first come to fully appreciate it — by learning compassion for a few less-than-lovable mortals.

Pottle, a graduating University of Maine at Farmington student, plans to study counselor education in graduate school at UMaine this fall. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Mt. Blue Theater Company and UMF’s creative writing department.

“The Human Experience” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 5, and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Lincoln Auditorium in Roberts Learning Center on the UMF campus. Suggested donation: $5 at the door.
