BREWER — Nick Hilton cracked three hits and Cam Abbott pitched 5 1/3 innings of strong relief as Mt. Blue defeated Brewer, 9-6, in KVAC baseball action.

Hilton ripped a single, double and triple to lead Mt. Blue’s nine-hit attack. Jordan Whitney chipped in with two hits, including a double, while Andrew Pratt also had a pair of hits for the Cougars (2-1).

Abbott came on in relief of starter Bradley Jackson in the second inning and struck out nine while allowing just a bases-clearing double in the fifth to pick up his second win of the season.

Jay Biffell had a three-run double for the Witches (1-2).

Hall-Dale 7, Spruce Mountain 1

FARMINGDALE — Ben Crocker hurled a complete-game five-hitter and helped his own cause at the plate with a double as Hall-Dale took out Spruce Mountain, 7-1, in an MVC baseball contest Wednesday.

Zac Plummer also rapped a double for the Bulldogs (2-0), while Brad Shepard and Matt Plourde collected triples in the victory.

Evan Castonguay suffered the loss on the hill for the Phoenix, his first defeat of the season.

Monmouth 5, Carrabec 3

MONMOUTH — Alex Curtis smacked a two-run single and Lane Burnham drove in another run to help give Monmouth Academy a 5-3 victory over Carrabec in a baseball game Wednesday.

The Mustangs (1-0) punched in all their runs in the first inning. Alex Curtis got the win on the mound and relief pitcher Kyle Fletcher doubled and had a single.

The Cobras (0-1) scored three runs in the fourth and and fifth innings to make it a game.

Gray-NG 9, Waynflete 4

GRAY — Kyle Nielson’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth broke a 4-4 tie and vaulted Gray-New Gloucester to a 9-4 win over Waynflete in WMC baseball action.

Austen Keenan and Adam Healy had two hits apiece, including a double, for the Patriots (2-0). Healy also picked up the win on the mound in relief.

St. Dom’s 11, Mt. Abram 2

AUBURN — The Saints jumped out to an early lead with three consecutive hits in the first inning and continued to produce as St. Dom’s notched an 11-2 victory over Mt. Abram in baseball action Wednesday.

Drew Gosselin contributed three hits and five RBIs, including three on a bases-clearing double for the Saints (3-0).

Shaine White was the only repeat hitter for the Roadrunners (0-2). Cal Dixon took the mound loss for Mt. Abram.

Zak Johnson earned the pitching victory for St. Dom’s.

Maranacook 3, Leavitt 0

READFIELD — Senior Ian Palmer recorded a double as Maranacook stung Leavitt with a 3-0 shutout in baseball action Wednesday.

The Black Bears (3-1) made solid use of costly Hornet (2-2) errors to grab three early runs.

Matt Bilodeau had a double, single and a walk for Leavitt.

Josh Bunker struck out six for the Hornets, and Eben Ballard struck out seven for Maranacook in what amounted to a pitchers’ duel if it weren’t for the ill-timed errors.

Mountain Valley 11, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY — Adam Volkernick hurled five inings of one-hit baseball as Mountain Valley easily overpowered Boothbay 11-1 in an MVC matchup Wednesday.

Kyle Gauvin led the Falcons (1-1) with three hits and a whopping five RBIs. Josh Rainey also contributed, pounding out two hits and driving in a run.

Aaron Benson also got into the act with two hits in a well-balanced attack. Mountain Valley jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first frame and was never challenged.

Maranacook/Winthrop 12, Mountain Valley 4

RUMFORD — Zach Glazier scored four goals and collected three assists as Maranacook/Winthrop (3-1) rolled to a 12-4 in a boys’ lacrosse game Wednesday.

Maranacook/Winthrop jumped out to a 8-2 lead in the first half and kept rolling along in the second half. Toby Smith scored three goals and Jesse Evans had two.

For Mountain Valley (1-3), Kyle Duguay scored all four goals.

Oak Hill 9, Camden Hills 6

CAMDEN — Caleb Provost scored four goals to lead Oak Hill to a 9-6 victory over Camden Hills in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

Trever Samson contributed three goals for the Raiders. Nick Linscott had a team-high three goals for the Windjammers.

Goalie Aiden Gordon made 14 saves for Camden Hills, while goalie Martie Martin turned away nine to earn the win in net for Oak Hill.

EL 6, Oxford Hills 4

AUBURN — Trevor Haley netted three goals Wednesday to propel Edward Little to a 6-4 victory over Oxford Hills in KVAC boys’ lacrosse action.

Calvin Bureau, Travis Landry and Drew Lupardo also tallied for the Red Eddies (2-1) to complete the scoring.
