LIVERMORE FALLS — On June 1, the Spruce Mountain Buying Club and Cooperative will open a small business incubator in Livermore Falls.

Set in the bank building on Main Street, the incubator will consist of six offices for rent to new small businesses or local growing businesses. The cooperative will consist of offices and, eventually, a licensed community kitchen, in which member-owners of the cooperative can rent at a low cost.

The cooperative will begin offering classes in the fall on business startups, business growth, financing and exiting. There will be courses in social media, Internet advertising and general advertising. There will also be classes for farmers and value-added producers.

The cooperative will require each interested business owner to produce a copy of the business plan and a character reference, proof of any license needed to perform the business and, at the signing of the lease, proof of general liability insurance for the office. All materials will be reviewed by the cooperative’s board of directors and kept strictly confidential.

The rent is inclusive of use of bathrooms, electricity, heat, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The business must also belong to the cooperative. There is some furniture available.
