LEWISTON — The College for ME-Androscoggin is accepting scholarship applications from adults who want to take their first college course or their first course after been away from college for years this fall.

The “First Class Scholarship for Adults” is similar to Early College for high school students, in that it’s intended to encourage adults to try college, or try college again, according to Joan Macri, associate director of College for ME-Androscoggin.

The scholarship will cover the first college course tuition at a regionally accredited post-secondary program in Androscoggin County. The amount of the scholarship will vary depending on which college the applicant plans to attend.

Eligible persons are those who are 25 or older, have never been to college, or haven’t been to college for five years. Winners of the scholarship will automatically become members of the “First Class Adult Cohort Program,” a group that meets to gain support for their success in college. For more information about the scholarship, call 765-6625, or email jmacri@usm.maine.edu.

Deadline for applications is May 25.
