On April 24, 12 students from four schools competed in the Modern Woodmen Level 2 district speech competition. The schools were Moore Middle School, St. John’s Catholic School, St. Brigid’s Catholic School and St. Dominic Academy. The topic of the speech was “A time when volunteers make a difference.” The winners were as follows: first place, Maddy Leslie of St. Dominic Academy; second, Mary Grace Jerome of St. John’s; and third, Grace Dexter of St. Brigid’s. The three students will compete in the Level 3 state competition which will be held at St. Dominic Academy at 6 p.m. on May 8.
