PITTSFIELD — Carmeline E. (Monroe) Boucher, 73, passed peacefully to the other side Monday, April 30.

She was born in Waterville. She most recently resided in Pittsfield. The daughter of Harry and Exilda Marie (Doucet) Monroe, formerly of Canaan, she was predeceased by her parents; second husband, Raymond Boucher; and her brother, Neil William (Bill) Monroe.

Carmie was a hard worker, loving mother and had a great sense of humor. She spent many years working seven days a week operating a family grocery store in New Gloucester, followed by a 25-year career at Pioneer Plastics in Auburn in the shipping and receiving department.

As a mother, she instilled a great sense of family and provided her children with every opportunity to develop their talents and interests. Her great sense of humor was enjoyed around many family and social gatherings, where she will be missed. She was fairly active to the end, participating in Pittsfield Senior Citizens Group events and loved playing cribbage and other card games.

She is survived by her children, Gordon A. Cunningham, Rebecca M. Stasko and husband, Andrew and Karl M. Cunningham and wife, Shelly; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Elliott, Jaqueline Sherburne and Charlotte Elliott; brother, Robert “Bob” Monroe; and former husband, Gordon F. Cunningham.

Her family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Kamlesh Bajpai, Dr. Rivas, Dr. Aldilaimi, the nurses and staff at Maine General Hospital-Thayer Campus and HealthReach Homecare and Hospice for their compassionate care.
