RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Joseph Louis Giroux was celebrated Wednesday, May 9, at Parish of the Holy Savior Rumford. The Rev. Philip Tracy was celebrant, and Bernard Poirier was the altar server.

Readings were proclaimed by his son, Thomas Giroux. The Prayer of the Faithful was offered by grandson, Edward Giroux. Organist was Mark Belanger. His son, Douglas Giroux, sang “You Raise Me Up” and “Now the Day is Over.” Other music selections were “Be Not Afraid” and “God Bless America.” The eulogy was delivered by his son, Thomas Giroux.

Pallbearers were Paul Ouellette, Dan Deraspe, Tom Deraspe and Chuck Arbor. A reception served by the Daughters of Isabella was held in the parish hall. Interment with military honors will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Services were under the care and guidance of S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, 250 Penobscot St., Rumford.
