AUBURN — Community Little Theatre will hold auditions for its production of Elton John and Tim Rice’s Broadway musical “Aida on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22-23.
Vincent Ratsavong will direct and choreograph the production, scheduled to run Aug. 10-19.
“Aida,” which premiered on Broadway in 2000 and ran for 1,852 shows, is one of the longest running Broadway musicals. The show’s music and dance offers a mix of African, Indian and Middle Eastern influences.
The play was nominated for five Tony Awards and won four Tony Awards in 2000, including Best Musical Score and Best Performance by a Leading Actress. It was also named by Time Magazine in 2000 as one of the Top 10 theater productions of the year.
