Library plant sale

BETHEL — The annual Bethel Library plant sale will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, on the lawn beside the library, 5 Broad St. The sale takes place rain or shine.

Local gardeners donate weed-free, pesticide-free, healthy perennials that have outgrown the space in their gardens.

Church seeks sale items

NORWAY — Second Congregational Church is accepting donations for its annual yard sale to be held Aug. 25. The barn is open for drop-offs.

Many local businesses will participate. Bruce and Pam Davison are coordinating the sale.

Nature club visit

PARIS — The Twin Town Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, in the Department of Human Services parking lot and carpool to Sunnyside Gardens in Turner. Bring a picnic lunch. Visitors are welcome. For information, call John Crumpton at 539-2902.

Society discusses project

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society gathered May 21 for a meeting and potluck supper with 16 members and two guests in attendance.

It was voted to have the annual August calendar the first three weeks and to draw the winners at the hall at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, with coffee and dessert served. All purchasers are welcome to attend.

Ted Jones presented an introductory letter on the feasibility of a historical block staring at Agnes Gray School and reaching to the railroad tracks. This is a photo and research project that will require hours of volunteer work to complete by the end of summer.

Robin Greene also attended this meeting with much to offer on procedure. Christi Mitchell, Maine Historical Preservation Commission, supplied all information with which to work.

The next meeting on the project will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 4, and is open to all interested parties.

Socrates Cafe meeting

WATERFORD — A Socrates Cafe gathering will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 4, at the Waterford Library.

The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a friendly atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome.
