Lewiston 15, Hampden 10

LEWISTON — Junior first baseman Michelle Malia registered four hits to lead Lewiston to a 15-10 victory over Hampden in KVAC softball action Wednesday.

The Broncos (8-8) had an early 10-2 lead after three innings. Chelsea Corey contributed a pair of doubles and a single for Hampden.

The Blue Devils (3-13) exploded for seven runs on five hits in the fifth inning to take a 15-10 lead. Erica Brochu chipped in with three hits and three RBIs, while Sami Rioux had two hits and two RBIs for Lewiston.

Mtn. Valley 12, Mt. Abram 3

SALEM — Lindsay Norstrom and Brooke Dolloff had two hits, including a double each, to power Mtn. Valley to a 12-3 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC softball Wednesday.

The Falcons (8-7) got some lift in the first inning with five runs. They scored another three in the third and two in the fourth to gain altitude.

Junior third baseman Taylor Henderson roped a triple for the Roadrunners (5-10) in the losing effort.

Dirigo 11, Telstar 0
BETHEL —  Alyssa Wade scattered three hits and drew ample run support Wednesday as Dirigo closed the curtain on its regular season with an 11-0 MVC victory over Telstar.

Wade struck out four and had no walks. The veteran pitcher also scored three runs as walks and errors spelled distaster for the Rebels (7-7).

Alyssa Charity belted out three hits for Dirigo, while Natalie Bolduc had two hits.

Jessica Dirago went the distance in the circle for the Rebels.

Oxford Hills 3, Messalonskee 2

OAKLAND — Oxford Hills scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday, and it held it up for a huge 3-2 KVAC softball victory over Messalonskee.

Angel Witham had a two-run double for the Vikings (11-5). Witham and Annika Kahkonen each had two hits.

Crystal West scattered nine hits and struck out five for Oxford Hills, outdueling Kassi Michaud. Phoebe Pelletier had three singles for the Eagles (13-3). Bri Garland’s RBI double in the fifth brough Messalonskee within a run.

Spruce Mountain 20, Carrabec 0

JAY — Spruce Mountain scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Wednesday to punctuate a 20-0 MVC softball whitewashing of Carrabec.

Paula Despres and Katelin Castonguay combined on the two-hit, five-inning shutout for the Phoenix (12-4). Despres struck out eight and allowed only one hit through four frames.

Despres and Alexi Deering each smashed four hits, including two Despres doubles. Ashlie Robbins was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Ashley Quirrion and Emily Acritelli also contributed two singles apiece to the 18-hit attack.

Cape Elizabeth 7, Poland 3

POLAND —  Cape Elizabeth scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning Wednesday to secure a 7-3 WMC softball victory over Poland.

Cape collected the runs on Ashley Tinsman’s triple, an RBI by Lexi Cairlass, a two-run double by Emmy Harn and a sacrifice fly.

Harn had four hits to lead Cape (13-3). Tinsman also belted a double in Cape’s three-run first inning. Anna Goldstein (seven strikeouts) was the Capers’ winning hurler.

Brittina Maheux clubbed a two-run double and later scored on a passed ball to pull Poland (7-9) even in the sixth. Lindsay Theriault had three hits and Maheux two for the Knights.

Oceanside 9, Leavitt 0

THOMASTON — Meg Russell and Katy Grove each hammered out RBI doubles in Oceanside’s explosive sixth inning as the Mariners dropped anchor on the Leavitt with a 9-0 KVAC softball victory Wednesday.

Winning pitcher Sara Frye threw a two-hitter against the Hornets (11-5), who commited five errors and watched Oceanside explode with seven runs in the sixth inning.

The Mariners (15-1) took a 2-0 lead after three innings before making quick work of Leavitt in the sixth. Grover and Patty Plourde each had two hits.

Losting pitcher Adrie Newton struck out seven batters.

Lacrosse

Lewiston 17, Oxford Hills 16
LEWISTON —  Kelsey Dumond led a group of nine players to register goals as Lewiston closed out the season by edging Oxford Hills 17-16 in KVAC girls’ lacrosse action Wednesday.

Dumond led the Blue Devils (11-1) with four goals and one assist, while Lauren Lessard and Jessica Cote each added three goals. Kayla Hamel also contributed two goals, while single tallies by Kenzie Sullivan, Mariah Carrier, Anna Wolterbeck, Mikaela St. Laurent and Laurianne Murphy completed the scoring.

The Vikings (8-4) were paced by Amanda Hanning with six goals and one assist. Kristen Gamache and Lacey Landry chipped in with three goals each, while Abby Morton found the net twice. Joanna Murch and Danielle Allen also tallied for Oxford Hills.

Kirstin Burgess and Sam Cote combined for 10 saves for Lewiston. Audrey Komulainen turned aside nine shots in the cage for Oxford Hills.
