AUBURN — John and Debora Cleveland of Auburn are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Nathan John Cleveland, to Kendra Helena Engel, daughter of Betsy Van Betuw of Portland and David Engel of Westbrook.

Mr. Cleveland graduated from Edward Little High School in 2003 and from Tufts University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He worked for the Massachusetts Campus Compact through Tufts University for two years and now works for Harvard University at the School of Law.

Miss Engel graduated from Deering High School in 2002 and Boston University in 2006, where she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught fifth grade in Fitchburg and Natick, Mass., for four years. She now works for the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, where she is also studying for a master’s degree in reading and literacy. Kendra will graduate from Boston College in May 2012. She plans to return to the classroom in the fall of 2012.

The couple resides in Boston. A July wedding is planned at York Beach.
