LIVERMORE — Selectpersons agreed Monday to have the town’s Memorial Forest property line surveyed at a cost of $2,800, administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Tuesday.
It was voted at the town meeting to dedicate the town’s state Veterans Exemption reimbursement for this purpose. It will provide approximately $1,800 of the funds needed, he said.
“As for the balance, the town may see some revenue if the line was actually crossed and the adjacent property owner called upon to compensate the town for the wood allegedly taken,” he said.
The line may have been crossed by a logger working on an adjacent parcel. The forest is located off the Poland Hill and Haggett Hill roads.
Schaub also said told selectpersons that he has begun researching mortgage holders in preparation for the issuance of notices warning of a pending tax lien.
As of Monday, approximately 185 notices will need to be sent, which is on a par with last year, Schaub said.
Notices are anticipated to go out the week of July 30.
An information sheet has been drafted for residents to complete if they want to serve on town boards and committees. Selectpersons approved the use of the sheet.
Schaub said he has heard from former Selectperson Brenda Merrill, Town Clerk Renda Libby and town employee Jean Tardif, who would like to serve on the Budget Committee.
In other action, Libby reported that absentee ballots are available for RSU 73’s validation referendum vote on a $18.7 million budget. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the Town Office.
Schaub also announced that the office will be closed Thursday, Aug. 9, so staff can attend a seminar on vital records.
In other business, the board has decided to take another look at plowing certain roads, including those for which public easements were accepted some time back in the 1990s, Schaub said.
