LEWISTON — The summer hours at The Center for Wisdom’s Women are 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The center will be closed on Aug. 1-3 and 23-24.

The center reopens after vacation on Aug. 6 with an introductory yoga class at 10, followed by an ice cream sundae party.

A new offering for the month of August is a Creative Expressions group on Thursdays at 11. This is being led by two interns from the USM counseling program and will focus on learning about yourself through art and music.

On Tuesdays from 1 to 2 p.m., Wisdom Circle meets with Sarah Wood on the 7th and 21st, and Beating the Blues on the 14th and 28th. A fibromyalgia support group gathers every Thursday afternoon at 1. An Al-Anon group meets Wednesdays at 12:15. The Writers Workshop meets Monday mornings at 10 with “marvelous morning munchies” and brewed coffee available. The recently formed Goddess Group that is learning about ancient goddesses from around the world meets again on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m.

Morning programs are held every weekday from 10 to 11:30. The Wise Woman Cooking Group will meet with Denise Dill on Aug. 14. Scrapbooking will be on Aug. 8 and 22 and watercolor classes on Aug. 16 and 30. SARK (playing with art) happens on Aug. 9. Bingo is set for Aug. 28 and the August birthday party which includes Scrabble and other games is on Aug. 17.

The clothes give-away will be on Aug. 27. The Art Van returns on the 29th. Craft classes are scheduled for Aug. 7 and 21.

The “Tooth Fairy” comes to the center again this summer on Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a mobile dental care clinic that provides free teeth cleaning and other basic services.

Personal hygiene items are given away and an oatmeal breakfast is available daily upon request. During all open hours, Wisdom Boxes and chances on a handmade, five-foot-square rosette quilt are available for sale. All women are welcome and programs are offered free of charge.
