FARMINGTON — Spaces are still available for members of the business community to attend the fourth and final workshop on job creation hosted by Gov. Paul LePage.
It takes place at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in Roberts Learning Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.
The registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 10. Participants may register online at maine.gov/governor/lepage and click on the Jobs Creation link.
The workshop is part of a series to discuss Maine’s economy and ways the state can improve policies to assist in creating jobs. The seminars include industry-specific workshops designed to bring business leaders together to share ideas and concerns about government policy.
“It is critical that we work directly with Maine’s job creators to get input and feedback on what we can do to improve the business climate and job creation in our state,” LePage said. “Mainers deserve prosperity, and state government can act as a partner to the private sector, allowing more opportunities for Maine people to get back to work.”
This fourth and final workshop in Farmington centers on the forest industry, said Evan Beal, deputy press secretary.
Opening remarks from LePage and economic policy adviser John Butera begin at about 8:30 a.m., he said.
Following these, participants rotate in three groups to attend three breakout sessions on marketing the Maine brand, workforce development and regulations.
The goal is to hear from the business community and collect ideas on how to make Maine more business friendly, he said.
Workshops have been held in June and July in Brunswick, Springvale and Presque Isle.
