Grange to hold closure sale

NEW GLOUCESTER — On July 13, Sabbathday Lake Grange 365 voted to close and consolidate with Danville Junction Grange 65 in Danville. Therefore Sabbathday Lake Grange is having one last sale on Saturday Aug. 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Almost everything in the hall we be sold, first come first serve. NAMI support group

LEWISTON — The 100 Pine Street Wellness and Recovery Center is offering an ongoing NAMI support group for those who experience mental health issues from noon to 1 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month.

Ted King to ride at Challenge

LEWISTON — Professional cyclist Ted King of Brentwood, N.H., will participate in the fourth annual Dempsey Challenge presented by Amgen, a non-competitive run, walk and cycling event benefiting The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing. The event will take place Oct. 13 and 14.

King took part in the inaugural event in 2009 as part of a stellar pro lineup that included George Hincapie, David Zabriskie and Stephen Roche. This year, along with actor and event namesake, Patrick Dempsey, King will ride alongside fellow pros Levi Leipheimer and Tom Danielson; paralympian Matt Updike, and former pros Davis and Connie Phinney.

Topic: Poetry and change

TOPSHAM — Gary Lawless will lead a poetry workshop, “How Poetry Effects Change,” at Occupied by Art, 331 Middlesex Road, on Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 3 to 5 p.m. Participants are invited to bring their own poetry.

Build a worm bin

LEWISTON — A workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the St.Mary’s Nutrition Center, 208 Bates St. Participants will learn how to turn garbage into super-rich soil with worms and will build a worm bin to take home at the end of the workshop.
