The official groundbreaking and dedication ceremony of Central Maine Power Company’s Lewiston Falls hydroelectric station will be held Monday at noon. According to Beth Ellis, public affairs representative of CMP, the ceremony, which will be held at the Lewiston end of James B. Longley Bridge, is in honor of Charles E. Monty, executive vice president and senior operating officer for CMP. Preliminary construction for the station started earlier this month after three years of contract negotiations between CMP and the city, according to Ellis. The $55 million plant is scheduled to be on line by the fall of 1990.
