RUMFORD — Victor L. Coolidge, 60, of East Bethel, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 26.

He was born at home July 18, 1952, a son of the late Almon and Edith (Robinson) Coolidge. Victor graduated from Telstar High School in 1970, and Central Maine Vocational and Technical Institute in 1973, with a degree in building construction.

He worked over the years for George Olson Construction, Andover Wood Products, L.E. Davis, Bethel Furniture Stock and Saunders Brother’s Mill. For many years, he ran Coolidge Brother’s Blue Seal Feeds and Farm Equipment on the North Road. Vic has spent the last 26 years working for what is now the NewPage Paper Mill in Rumford. Even in the wake of a terminal illness diagnosis, his strong work ethic remained.

He loved local history and was a lifetime member of the Bethel Historical Society as well as a 37-year member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge 97. Vic’s passion was in farming the land, from gardening to haying the fields. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and his generosity toward others.

Victor is survived by his wife, Tish; his daughters, Sarah DeCato and husband, Chris, Jessica Coolidge, Victoria Dunham and husband, Josh and Kathryn Coolidge; his special granddaughter, Isla DeCato; stepsons, J.T. and wife, Kelley and their children, Isaiah and Annabel and Matt and his companion, Heather and their children, Ryleigh and Dannika; brothers, John Coolidge and wife, Eva and Earl Coolidge and wife, Mona; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and sisters, Mary Bean, Arlene Wesson and Phylis Barnhill.
