AUBURN — A spaghetti supper will be held Friday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Auburn Middle School, 38 Falcon Drive, to benefit victims of two recent fires on River Street in Lewiston and Summer Street in Auburn.

Donations of any denomination will be accepted at the door. There are no advance ticket sales or minimum donation required. Several items will be raffled/auctioned, including gift certificates for local goods and services valued at more than $2,000. This benefit supper is sponsored by the Auburn Middle School Community.

“This is the first of many opportunities that AMS staff and students will use to work together to give back to the local community this year,” said Jim Hand, AMS principal. “This benefit started as a way to help our own staff and students affected by the fires, but we are pleased to announce that the proceeds will be shared with all the victims of both fires.”

The benefit is linked to a new school-wide initiative called C.O.R.E., which stands for Character, Outreach, Relationships and Excellence. The goal of CORE is to help students organize their middle school experience on a successful path, to aid students in reflecting on their education experience and most importantly to engage students in their school and community.

Community members unable to attend may make donations directly to the River Street Fire Victims Fund at Community Credit Union, 144 Pine St., Lewiston or 40 Stanley St., Auburn.
