FRYEBURG — Jake Street capped a wild finish with a goal on a corner kick booted by Will Bartlett with only 43 seconds remaining as Gray-New Gloucester held off Fryeburg 3-2 in WMC soccer action Thursday.
Street’s second goal of the game countered a second strike from Hideaki Nakamura with 1:58 to play that tied the game at two.
Nakamura also had the first goal of the game for Fryeburg (0-2), which led 1-0 at the half.
Jack Martell found the back of the net early in the second half for the Patriots (2-1), who got seven saves from Nick Rogers in the thrilling victory. Street made it 2-1 with 23 minutes to play, setting up the flurry at the finish.
Paul Dostie turned back seven shots in the loss for Fryeburg.
St. Dom’s 6, Oak Hill 1
AUBURN — Tyler Furtado and Cam Stewart netted two goals apiece Thursday as St. Dom’s hustled to a 6-1 win over Oak Hill in a KVAC boys’ soccer tilt.
The Saints (3-0) jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the first half. Nick Hatfield and Ryan Lutrzykowski also tallied to complete the scoring.
The Raiders (0-3) received their lone goal from Adam Priest. Ben Sawyer needed only three saves to notch the victory, while Kyle Fields turned aside 11 shots in the cage for Oak Hill.
Mt. Abram 3, Telstar 1
BETHEL — Calum Dixon put the icing on the cake early in the second half, as Mt. Abram busted out to a 3-1 win over Telstar in an MVC boys’ soccer matchup Thursday.
Jay Chenard and Trevor Brackly scored for the Roadrunners during the first half, while Nic Conrad tallied for Telstar.
Tristen Dyer made 10 saves for Mt. Abram, while Dylan Helms managed to deflect 15 shots for Telstar.
MCI 3, Leavitt 1
TURNER — Chris Rines led a trio of players to register goals Thursday as Maine Central Institute (MCI) rolled to a 3-1 win over Leavitt in more KVAC boys’ soccer action.
Will Cu and Doug Bryant also tallied for the Huskies (1-1) to complete the scoring.
The Hornets (0-2) received their lone goal from Tyler Roux with an assist from Anthony Tedesco.
Matt Lessard made five saves for MCI, while Ben Fullerton turned aside six shots in the cage for Leavitt.
Dirigo 2, Monmouth 0
DIXFIELD — Dirigo managed a goal in each half Thursday and came away with a 2-0 win over Monmouth in an MVC matchup.
Chad Snowman fired one into the net during the first half, with an assist from Brian Volkernick. Hunter Ross added the insurance goal with a nice feed from Lauren Kind.
Mike Chow made eight saves for Dirigo, while Kasey Smith turned aside 14 shots in net for the Mustangs (1-1-1).
