AUBURN — St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 78 Pleasant St., will have a book study group starting Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

They will be studying “The Good Book: Reading from the Bible with Mind and Heart” by the Rev. Peter J. Gomes.

Gomes was born in Boston, Mass., and graduated from Bates College and Harvard Divinity School. He has been a minister in the Memorial Church since 1974, when he was appointed Plummer Professor of Christian Morals at Harvard College.

Time magazine called Gomes one of the seven best preachers in America, and his book “a brilliant and inspiring look at the Bible today, and the ever-evolving role of the Good Book in American politics, culture and in our own lives. ”

The public is invited for fellowship, prayers and discussion. Books will be available for $4.
