FARMINGTON — A Jay man was arrested Monday on warrants charging five counts of felony unlawful sexual contact with a girl under age 10, Augusta police Detective Sgt. Matthew Clark said Wednesday.
George H. O’Donnell, 78, was indicted by a Kennebec County Superior Court grand jury on the charges on Sept. 20.
The unlawful sexual contact occurred in March in the Augusta area, Clark said. Augusta Police Department received a complaint and launched an investigation, he said.
Jay police officer Nicholas Gulliver arrested O’Donnell on the warrant charges Monday. He was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington.
He was released the same day after posting $10,000 worth of real estate as bail, a corrections officer at the jail said Wednesday.
