LIVERMORE FALLS — The Tri-Town Area Seniors, formerly the Jay-Livermore Falls Seniors, met at Murray Hall on Sept. 24, with 21 members present.

President Fernande Doiron opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for departed members and for the men and women serving in the armed forces. The secretary’s report was read and accepted.

Terry Lockhead of Maine Alliance for Retired Americans was introduced and spoke on some changes that could affect seniors who are on Medicare, Social Security or Medicaid. Rep. Paul Gilbert, District 87, was also a guest.

It was announced there will be no meeting on Oct. 8. On Monday, Oct. 1, the group will play bingo. A Chinese auction will be held on Oct. 15.

The 50/50 was won by Joyce Richards. Following the meeting refreshments were served by Carole Redman, Peggy Jacques and Gloria Bickford. Next week’s birthday celebration refreshments will be served by Geraldine Richards, Marielle Labbe and Janet Wright. A birthday cake will be served with other refreshments.

Those who live in the area and are 55 or over are invited to join us for games, cards and socializing at 1 p.m. Mondays at Murray Hall.

When members met on Sept. 17, it was announced that on Oct. 29 a Halloween meal will be held with finger rolls and salads. Again this year the group was encouraged to get partners to help with the cost of the salads and fixings.

The club will supply the finger rolls, and Nancy Couture will bring the dessert. Louise Parker will entertain that day.

The Thanksgiving meal will be held on Nov. 12 and that will be a potluck lunch. It was voted to hold the Nov. 19 date open for the Thanksgiving meal in case it snows on Nov. 12.

The president asked for a few more people to help with the hospitality committee at the end of the day to clean up.

The new bylaws were reviewed and accepted with one change. The new name will be Tri-Town Area Senior Citizens.

Following the meeting refreshments were served by Gail Laverdiere, Pat Laverdiere and Rita Fuller.  The 50/50 was won by Marilyn DeSoto.
