FARMINGTON — A favorite early morning shopping event in downtown Farmington is the last one for Kathy Brennick.

Brennick, the owner of My Crop Paper Scissors Store on Front Street, plans to close her shop following the traditional Early Bird Sale.

Although the retirement closing sale is now in progress with hopes of selling off as much paper, scrapbook materials and art supplies as she can, she’ll open from 7 a.m. to noon on Nov. 3 to offer an early bird special for the last time.

It was not an easy decision, she said, but now that it’s made, she’s looking forward to returning to retirement, spending time on a variety of projects and visiting children in Tennessee.

Brennick of Jay came out of retirement five years ago to run the store. She took it over from her daughter, Joan Egdall, who owns the building and is currently trying to sell the property.

The economy was a factor in the decision.

Brennick is focused on clearing the space. Items for scrapbooking, stamping, Bazzill card stock and much more line the shelves ready for a creative idea.

She said she thinks some of the avid scrapbookers in the area will help take care of any stock that doesn’t sell between now and Nov. 3.
