CARTHAGE — Scotland’s premiere fiddle ensemble, Blazin’ Fiddles, will perform Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center.

The contemporary fiddle players from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland will also take the stage on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Unity College’s Center for the Performing Arts.

The award-winning ensemble grew from a showcase tour of individual fiddlers. When Blazin’ Fiddles performs, audiences get to hear pieces featuring the regional styles of each fiddler, as well as them coming together in a fiery blend that also features guitar and piano.

Making up the group are fiddlers Jenna Reid, Bruce Macgregor, Allan Henderson and Iain Macfarlane; Anna Massie on guitar and fiddle; and Andy Thorburn on keyboard.

In Europe, the group has appeared at the Cambridge Folk, Sidmouth International Music , Lorient, Tonder and Falun festival s, as well as Scotland’s premier Celtic Connections event.

Past performances have included Blazin’ Fiddles’ own project, “With Strings Attached,” which debuted at Celtic Connections, 2005. It featured singer-songwriters Eddi Reader, Justin Currie and Colin MacIntyre. Also that year, the group’s album, “Magnificent Seven,” picked up the Best Album Award at the Scots Trad Awards.

Blazin’ Fiddles’ fourth album, “Blazin’ Fiddles Live,” led up to its 10th anniversary in 2008; and the band released “Thursday Night in the Caley” in 2011.

The concerts, presented by New England Celtic Arts in partnership with Crossroads International Celtic Festival and Saltwater Celtic Music Festival, will be at 7 p.m. at Skye, 7:30 at Unity. Reservation required for both shows. Tickets are $15 at the door. Call Skye at 562-4445 or UCCPA at 948-7469. Skye is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and Route 2; UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity.
