According to the Fraternal Order of Eagles website, the Lew Reed Spinal Cord Injury Fund was founded in 2001 in Louisville, Ky., to provide grants to groups aiding people with spinal cord injuries. The fund helps organizations from across the United States and Canada raise money for research, technology development and patient care to improve the quality of life for people living with the results of spinal cord injury or disease, and their families.
