LIVERMORE — Selectpersons will hold an emergency meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Town Office to discuss the resignation of Treasurer Cathy Lee.

Lee, who was elected in June, resigned Tuesday, delivering her letter to board Chairman John Wakefield at his home, Wakefield confirmed Wednesday night.

The letter, he said, did not give a specific reason. She “noted she was quitting her job and that it would be effective Oct. 23. I offered to talk with her but she just left. She never said why she was resigning.”

Wakefield said state law stipulates that when a treasurer resigns, the Board of Selectpersons has the authority to appoint someone to fill out the term.

Voters elected Lee over Kurt Schaub, who had served as treasurer for more than a decade, by a vote of 226-219. Her term was for two years.

Schaub, administrative assistant for the board, said selectpersons will decide what to do about the position at Thursday’s meeting.
