LEWISTON — Election Superintendent Jane Heikkinen has announced, “An uncontested nomination petition has been received naming Arthur Dunlap of Poland as candidate for the board of supervisors of the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District.”

Dunlap was born in Farmington, raised in Auburn and lives in Poland. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maine and has taken several additional undergraduate and graduate courses in business.

His work experience as code enforcement officer has included Poland, Wales and Bowdoinham. Dunlap has assisted with insurance inspections, performed duties as a third-party inspector for the manufactured housing industry, was certified as a residential building inspector and also has worked in the broadcasting industry.

Dunlap’s voluntary services include memberships with the Poland Historical Society, Poland Preservation Society, officer of the Time and Tide Resource Conservation and Development Council, executive board member of the Maine Association of Conservation Districts, board supervisor of the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District and served with the Tripp Lake Improvement Association. He also belongs to the Masons, Eastern Star and Shriners.

Dunlap said, “My desire is to do whatever we can to strengthen the conservation district, and also to keep the natural resources in Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties beautiful, clean and what people want to see.”

To participate in the election of the position, ballots may be downloaded by going to www.androscogginswcd.org, or have the ballot mailed by calling 753-9400, ext. 400.

The ballots must be received no later than Monday, Nov. 12. They will be counted on Monday, Nov. 19.

Any registered voters and residents of Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties are eligible to vote.

The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District works with local landowners, municipalities and resource managers to solve natural resource problems.
