LIVERMORE FALLS — The “Good Neighbor” Tri-Town Fuel Fund will conduct a fundraiser  this month to help residents of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

Tickets will be sold for $10 each for a December Calendar filled with gift certificates and cash from local merchants and donors. Each daily drawing has a minimum value of no less than $50 and winners will be notified by telephone each day.

Members of the Fuel Fund will be selling tickets Thursday, Nov. 15, Friday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17, at local stores in the area. Tickets and calendars will also be available at several area merchants until Nov. 30.

To purchase tickets or make a donation, call Louise Chabot at 897-3851, Ferne Doiron at 897-2782, or John Beaudoin at 357-4600.

All proceeds will benefit the Tri-Town Ministerial Association Fuel Fund, a nonprofit organization established in 2008 to provide emergency fuel to people.

The funds are distributed through Western Maine Community Action in Wilton and are made available to residents in Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls, even if they do not meet the federal guidelines for heating assistance.

Local funds are intended for emergency fuel assistance for individuals waiting for unemployment benefits or who may be experiencing other financial difficulties. WMCA will also determine whether the individuals may qualify for federal or state fuel assistance programs.

Last heating season 115 families received $33,186 in fuel assistance, thanks to the generosity of the community, local merchants and donors.

The need is expected to be even greater this year, due to cuts at the federal and state level, fund organizers said.
