Coach: Tom Danylik (first year)
Last year’s record: 11-8, lost in Western Class B preliminary
Returning players: Seniors — Jacob Theriault (6-1 guard), Ryan Nicols (5-10 guard), Milo Jodrey (6-1 forward/center), Sean Murphy (5-10 guard), Scott Nicols (5-10, guard/forward), Colin Merrill (5-11 forward); Sophomores — Brad Marshall (6-0 guard), Tom Marshall (6-0 guard).
Key losses: Zak Radcliffe (5-8 guard), Andrew Child (6-1 forward).
Promising newcomers: Seniors — Adam Volkernick (6-0 guard), Ryan Stickney (6-2 center), Will Cunningham (5-9 guard), Dominic Haines (5-11 guard); Sophomore — Caleb Gauvin (6-1 forward/center).
Outlook: Danylik was named coach only a few weeks before the start of practice, but he inherits a senior-dominated club that should contend for the MVC title and a return to the Class B floor in Portland after a year away. Theriault is perhaps the most dangerous outside shooter in the conference. The point of emphasis in Danylik’s new system is defense, and so far he likes what he sees. The Falcons don’t have much size, so crashing the boards will be essential to their success.
Coach’s comment: “The kids have done a great job so far accepting and learning a new system, and their effort in practice has been great.” — Coach Tom Danylik
