DIXFIELD — The Dirigo Middle School eighth-grade class is sponsoring its fourth annual Winter Festival and Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at the school.
All funds raised will benefit the eighth-grade class trip to Boston in late spring.
The event, organized by Jen Swett and Amy Gammon, features a wide variety of crafts created by 30 area artisans, as well as food, several raffles and a silent auction with items donated by local businesses and craft vendors. There will also be a chili cook-off, children’s games and an assortment of other activities.
Anyone wishing to enter the chili contest is asked to contact Jen Swett at 357-1210. All chili entries must be at the school by 9 a.m. when the vote for the top three chilis will take place. The entry fee to participate is $10.
The first place winner will receive 50 percent of the entry fees, the second place winner will receive 30 percent, and the third place winner will receive 20 percent.
The chili will be sold at noon, along with other foods.
There will be a huge variety of crafts, according to Swett, ranging from knitted and crocheted items to woodwork, quilts and many others.
“We’re so excited,” Swett said.
