The Boston Celtics announced Wednesday that they have assigned center Fab Melo to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
Melo, a 7’0” center, averaged 6.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 23.4 minutes over five games for the Red Claws. He was drafted by Boston with the 22nd pick of the first round in the 2012 NBA draft.
The Red Claws also traded the rights to Morris Almond to the Iowa Energy in exchange for Iowa’s 2013 2nd round draft selection.
Almond spent the 2011-12 and 2009-10 seasons with the Red Claws and was the Red Claws 2012 Co-Player of the Year last season.
