Maine Media Women meeting
DAMARISCOTTA — At the first of two annual “Member Showcase” meetings, Maine Media Women will turn the spotlight on three of its own members at its Jan. 5 meeting at the Mobius Center on Business Route 1.
The speakers’ topics will range from mandalas and spiritual literacy to hospice volunteering and the life-changing educational programs propounded by Jhumki Basu. The members who will be presenting these topics will be MMW vice president Janice Lindsay of Damariscotta and members Daphne Stern of Bristol and Peggy Gannon of Palmyra.
Guests are always welcome at MMW meetings, which begin at 9:15 a.m. with coffee and networking. The program begins at 10. Suggested donations is $3 for members and $5 for guests. KVCC spring registration
FAIRFIELD – Registration for the spring 2013 semester at Kennebec Valley Community College is underway for all students.
Registration will continue through the start of the spring semester on Jan. 7. Students are reminded that some classes fill up quickly, and are encouraged to register as early as possible.

Outstanding Teens sought
BRUNSWICK — The Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Program is accepting applications for “at large” contestants to compete in the Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen pageant in mid-June at Crooker Theater at Brunswick High School. The pageant is the official state preliminary to the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant held each August in Florida.
All contestants, aged 13-17 and not a high school senior, will compete in the following phases of competition: interview, scholastic achievement, talent, evening gown and physical fitness. Contestants need to choose a platform of their choice to promote awareness within their community.
