STATEWIDE — Junior Achievement is in the midst of planning for the seventh annual JA Titan Challenge on Wednesday, Feb. 13, as part of Maine Entrepreneurship Week. All Maine high schools are invited to participate in this competition, free of charge. Currently 88 teams from 26 Maine High Schools are registered, making this the biggest year to date.

The JA Titan Challenge is a unique online business competition that puts high school students in the leadership seat to run a virtual company. Each three student team takes on the role of CEO, CFO and Marketing R&D as they directly compete with the other teams to successfully sustain their business. Each team is matched with a business mentor from the community to guide them through the decision making process.

Top performing teams will take home scholarships generously donated by Maine Education Services.

Locations of the challenge included USM-Portland campus, USM-Lewiston/Auburn campus, The Foster Center for Student Innovation at UMaine-Orono campus, Maine Maritime Academy- Castine, The University of New England-Biddeford campus and UMaine-Presque Isle Campus. The deadline to register is Jan. 11. Space is limited.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. This year, JA will reach out to almost 10,000 Maine students.
