Collection for Hurricane Sandy

LEWISTON/AUBURN — A special collection to aid Hurricane Sandy victims will be held at all Masses in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland on Saturday, Dec. 22, and Sunday, Dec. 23.

The proceeds will support the efforts of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Charities USA as they respond to the immediate emergency needs of the residents in affected areas by providing food, water, clothing and shelter.

Norway Baptist Christmas program

NORWAY — A Christmas program will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at Norway Baptist Church. The program will include the Sunday School Bell Choir as well as special numbers by the children, Christmas carols, the adult choir and a live Nativity.

Refreshments will follow the program. Everyone will receive a small gift.

Christmas Mass schedule

STATEWIDE — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland has made available online the Christmas Mass schedules for more than 130 churches in more than 115 cities and towns in Maine. The schedules can be accessed at www.portlanddiocese.org/christmasmasses2012.

‘After’ Christmas candlelight service

MINOT — The 1846 Minot Center Congregational church will hold the annual Sunday “After” Christmas candlelight service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30.

The church has a new coat of paint on the exterior, but the interior remains as it was originally built. Wood fires bring back the days of old. The service will be followed with hot chocolate and cookies.
