Officers of the William J. Rogers American Legion Post 153 prepared 10 baskets for families of the 619th Transportation Company, U.S. Army Reserve based in Dexter and Auburn. Many have already served two to three tours in Iraq. Commander Dave Richardson, 1st vice commander Colby Dill, adjutant Clair Poirier, finance officer Tibby Dupuis, judge advocate Don Beaulieu, chaplain Denis Beaulieu, service officer George Bernier, public relations officer Paul Bernard, trustees Ken Winter, Jim Smyth, Carl Douglas and Fern Labbe all agree that it is a wonderful change to see our troops greeted when they return home, however many of our troops are not making it by. Providing a Thanksgiving meal to these families hopefully will remind them that the American Legion family is there for them. The Legion also wants to recognize Mark and Lynn Cassavant of In His Name Food Pantry for their contribution to the troops. For information on becoming a member, contact the William J. Rogers Post 153, 71 South Main St. Auburn, ME 04210, email [email protected] or call 782-1118.
