EAST WILTON — A Mass of Christian Burial for William Thomas Yates, M.D., of East Wilton was held Jan. 2, from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Farmington, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin officiating. Prior to Mass, a family prayer service was held at the Wiles Remembrance Center, Wilton. Pallbearers were his sons, Benjamin Yates and Paul Yates, friend and colleague, Dale Bardo, M.D., Adam Gross, David Kraus and Jim Randall. Gift bearers were James and Hailee Randall. Organist was Patricia Hayden. Soloist, Sister Bernadette Therese. The processional hymn was “The King of Love.” The liturgy of the word included a first reading by Martha Randall, Wisdom 3:1-9; the Responsorial Psalm was Psalm 23; Second Reading by Elena Kraus was Romans 8:14-23; Proclamation of the Gospel was John 14:1-6 and the prayers of the faithful were read by David Kraus. Offertory hymn was “Be Still My Soul”; Communion hymn was “On Eagle’s Wings”; the “Ashokan Farewell was played by Sister Mary L. Concepta, SV, Anna Kvaitchadze and Sister Mariae Agnus Dei, SV. His son, Benjamin Yates, offered a personal eulogy. The final commendation: In paradisum, a Gregorian Chant. The recessional hymn was “O God Beyond All Praising.” Following Mass, the St. Joseph’s Altar Guild welcomed family and friends to a comfort reception at the Parish Hall.
