W. H. Tibbetts of Auburn, who for the past 12 years has been a representative of the John Bird Co., a wholesale grocery firm of Rockland, and Sidney M. Bird of Rockland who has also been associated with the Bird Co., have leased the entire south section of Roak Block, formerly occupied by Ingersoll, and are soon to establish there a wholesale grocery business. The quarters which have been secured are roomy and especially adapted for the line of business which will be carried on there. Both Mr. Tibbetts and Mr. Bird are well known in Maine and have long experience in the wholesale grocery business.

50 years ago, 1963
Four minutes after Rumford police notified Auburn officers of a boy missing from Rumford, Auburn authorities had the lad in custody. At 6:08 p.m., Rumford police called Auburn authorities to tell them a 16-year-old boy missing from Rumford was believed to have called his parents a few minutes earlier from a Center street garage. Auburn Patrolman Albion C. Russell radioed he had picked up the lad in front of a Turner Street variety store. Two of the boy’s uncles drove to Auburn to return the boy to his home.

Brian Seguin, Lewiston High School quarterback and three-sports whiz kid, has been named the 17th winner of the James J. Fitzpatrick Trophy as the state’s outstanding Class A football player.
