RUMFORD — Kenneth Cummins “Kenny” “Stump” Flagg Jr., 59, of Carthage, died unexpectedly, Monday, Jan. 21, at the Rumford Hospital.

He was born Nov. 14, 1953, in Rumford, a son of Kenneth and Emma (Thomas) Flagg Sr. He attended local schools, graduating from Dirigo High School.

Kenny worked in the woods and drove a truck hauling wood for many years and for many local harvesters, most recently for the Berry family in Carthage.

Kenny was the “go to” person for anything in Carthage. He was very active in the community having served as a former selectman and president of the snowmobile club.

He was the current fire chief in Carthage and for many years has been the sexton of the local cemeteries.

He was very well loved and respected by all of his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Ken is survived by his three children, Casey Flagg, Amanda Fennell and David Flagg; six step-children, Barry Bradbury, Danny Bradbury, Kricket Davis, Kristal Child, Kathy-Jo Barnett and Kandice Child; 21 grandchildren, with another on the way; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sidney and Teddy Flagg; and three sisters, Lydia Hutchinson, Kathy Turner and Stella Blanchard. He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Bert Knox and Florence Flagg.
