LIVERMORE FALLS — Police are investigating the theft of heating oil from a home on Depot Street.
Livermore Falls firefighters were called to the house at 8:40 p.m. Sunday for a report of a strong odor of oil, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday. Police were called about 15 minutes later after it was discovered heating oil was missing.
Someone entered an unsecured, vacant unit on one side of a duplex and went downstairs to the oil tank, Steward said. A plastic pump was still dangling from the tank, he said.
About 10 gallons of oil valued at about $50 was taken.
