LISBON — Christine Amaya has opened a new business, the Village St. Cafe, in the heart of Lisbon on Village Street.
The building was once the town’s library as well as an accountant’s office, karate studio and even a meeting hall for Boy Scouts in the 1950s.
The cafe seats 20 people in the dining room and another eight around the bar, surrounding an open kitchen. There is a small quiet area with two comfortable chairs where patrons can sit and sip on a cup of coffee, with books and magazines for all ages.
Owner Amaya also has owned Miller’s Variety in Lisbon Falls for more than five years.
The cafe is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, serving a variety of homemade foods, including soups, corn beef hash and muffins. There are no fried foods on the menu.
