Scholars to speak at Holocaust memorial
AUBURN — Dr. Robert Bernheim, executive director of the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine, will speak Sunday, April 7, at Temple Shalom Synagogue, at an event in observance of Holocaust Memorial Day.
Bernheim, who is also on the faculty at the University of Maine at Augusta, will speak about Yad Vashem, the official Holocaust memorial and study center in Jerusalem. He recently attended an international conference of Holocaust scholars at Yad Vashem.
The program will be at 4 p.m. at the synagogue, at 74 Bradman St. The event is free and open to the public.
Calvary minister begins journey
LEWISTON — Calvary United Methodist Church will hold a special service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 7.
All are invited to attend as the congregation says bon voyage to Rev. Casey Collins as she begins a traveling “journey of renewal” for four months.
During Collins’ absence, retired Methodist bishop, Rev. Cliff Ives will accompany the church on its own journey as members and friends explore, in a series of services and activities, “Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth.”

Fred Jordan speaks at First U
PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street will welcome Dr. Fred Jordan as guest speaker on April 7 for their 10 a.m. worship service.
Music is under the direction of Linda Stowell and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the worship service and all are welcome. Childcare is available and the church is wheelchair accessible.
