DEAR SUN SPOTS: I hope some of your female readers can help. My friend is three months post-surgery for a pacemaker and cannot find any bra that is comfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions? — Friend, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots looked online and found a couple of suggestions. One is to go with a bra with a wider strap. Another is to use the comfortHer bra strap pad.

According to the online advertisement: “The comfortHer pad gently protects your post-surgical area from the constant rubbing of your bra strap during everyday activities. ComfortHer is made with a silky-soft, washable tricot nylon fabric with triple-padding and unique internal stiffeners. Easily adjusted to fit any bra, the comfortHer pad’s low profile enables it to be worn under most any of your clothing without being seen.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for someone in Lewiston-Auburn who services reel-to-reel tape recorders. I have a Technic 1700 that needs to be serviced. — Herb, jodyherb87@yahoo.com

ANSWER: You might try Maurice Belanger. He fixes stereos, so he might be willing to attempt your recorder. You can call him at 784-2731, Belanger’s Electronics, 153 Ferry Road, Lewiston, ME 04240.

Deny’s Service Center, 125 Sabattus St., Lewiston, 783-6869, focuses on TVs, but one online profile says they also fix VCRs, which also have tapes on reels. At any rate, it won’t hurt to ask if they can help.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: It is nearly time (I think!) to take the plastic off the windows inside of my mobile home. Last year I used Goo Gone and washed the plastic frames.

They didn’t feel sticky, but when I put some on last fall they were sticky. What else besides Goo Gone could I use that would work?

Thank you for all the information you turn out of your computer. It has helped many. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Goo Gone should work, but it probably runs off the vertical surface before it has time to act.

You need to find some way to keep it on the surface long enough for it to work. Perhaps you could apply the Goo Gone to paper towels, then use plastic wrap and tape to hold the paper towels to the frame? Or, if you are patient and have the time, you could stand there and wipe it over and over with a soaked paper towel until it comes off.

Sun Spots has also had some luck using rubbing alcohol to get rid of sticky stuff.

Perhaps readers will have other suggestions.
