LEWISTON — The Maine Community Foundation in partnership with College for ME-Androscoggin announces the next round of their Musgrave Fund Scholarships for adult students.

The Thomas W. and Beulah Long Musgrave Fund Scholarship provides support for tuition and fees for adult learners who are enrolled in an accredited program of study leading to a degree, certification or similar recognition.

College for ME-Androscoggin will award five $1000 scholarships to adult students for the semester or term beginning fall 2013. There will be another round of scholarships announced in November for the spring 2014 semester. Eligible adult students must have resided in Maine for the previous five years, currently reside in Androscoggin County and demonstrate financial need and good character as well as seriousness of purpose.

Adult learners are students who do not go to college directly from high school and often have a significant gap between high school and entering college. Preference is given to those for whom the scholarship would make a significant difference in their ability to attend school. Previous Musgrave Fund Scholarship recipients may reapply for this scholarship and receive it a maximum of two times if they are in good academic standing at their college at the time of reapplication.

College for ME-Androscoggin is a local nonprofit working to increase college access and attainment in Androscoggin County.

Deadline is May 17. Applications are available at www.collegeformeandroscoggin.org/adults/money-for-college/scholarships, by calling 753-6548 or at area college financial aid offices.
