AUBURN — Michael Bryant’s walk-off single in the eighth frame was enough to lift St. Dom’s to a 5-4 win over Hall-Dale in a KVAC baseball tilt Monday.
After five scoreless innings, each team finally put up a run in the sixth. The contest was tied up again in the seventh when St. Dom’s Caleb Dostie belted a two-run single. Jimmy Therriault reached base in the eighth before Bryant drove in the winning run.
Leavitt 3, MCI 2
TURNER — Brian Bedard plated a pair of runs in the fifth inning to lead Leavitt to a 3-2 victory over Maine Central Institute in KVAC baseball action Monday.
Bedard, Drew Gosselin and Levi Morin all had hits for the Hornets. Morin also earned the mound win, giving up eight hits in seven innings of work.
Craig Michard went the distance for MCI and allowed five hits in the contest.
Mountain Valley 13, Telstar 1
RUMFORD — Adam Volkernick scattered four hits and drew ample run support as Mountain Valley easily outgunned Telstar 13-1 in a mid-season MVC matchup Monday.
Tom Marshall led the Falcons (3-3) with one hit and five RBIs, highlighted by a three-run homer in the fourth frame.
Dylan Akers also contributed with an RBI triple.
The winless Rebels (0-6) utilized Logan Bartlett as their starter.
After a four-run rally in the third by Mountain Valley, his time on the hill was complete.
Telstar jumped out to a 1-0 advantage before the Falcons’ offense hit high gear.
Oak Hill 12, Boothbay 0
WALES — Parker Asselin hurled five innings of two-hit baseball and drew more than adequate run support as Oak Hill coasted to a 12-0 victory over Boothbay on Monday.
Asselin helped his own cause with one hit and three RBIs thanks to a fine sacrifice fly.
Brady Dion belted a bases-loaded triple in the fourth to ignite a big eight-run frame.
Oxford Hills 18, Mt. Ararat 2
PARIS — Ryan Godin scattered five hits and watched his team erupt for eight runs in the fourth frame as Oxford Hills outgunned Mt. Ararat 18-2 in mid-season baseball action Monday.
Matt Beauchesne, Nick Dyer and Ben Bowie all belted out three hits for the powerhouse Vikings (7-1), while Walter Feeney, Dalton Rice and Jordan Croteau also contributed with two hits apiece in a well-balanced attack.
Riley Kons led the Eagles (2-6) with a pair of hits, while Ryan Lathrop suffered the loss.
Dirigo 5, Carrabec 2
DIXFIELD — Gavin Arsenault scattered three hits and drew adequate run support as Dirigo hustled to a 5-2 win over Carrabec in baseball action Monday.
Tyler Frost and Brett Whittemore each had two hits and one RBI for the Cougars (5-2), while Kane Hutchins belted a two-run double.
Tucker Atwood led the Cobras (3-4) with an RBI double. Levi Murray struggled through all seven frames and suffered the loss.
Poland 7, Sacopee Valley 2
POLAND — Shawn Murphy scattered two hits and drew ample run support as Poland sped away to a 7-2 win over Sacopee Valley in baseball action Monday.
Corey Cunliffe and Kaleb Bridgham combined for four hits and three RBIs to lead the Knights (5-3).
Bridgham belted an RBI double in the third frame to ignite a five-run rally.
Sacopee Valley (1-6) saw Shawn Murphy tagged with the loss after working the first five innings.
Wiscasset 5, Lisbon 1
LISBON — Chad Longfellow smacked a two-run triple in the third inning and went 2-for-4 as Wiscasset dismissed Lisbon with a 5-1 victory in a baseball game Monday.
Wiscasset (3-5) built a 5-0 lead by the fifth inning thanks to winning pitcher Zack Ellison, who went the distance and struck out eight batters.
For Lisbon, Brandon Hovey tripled and had an RBI single to give the Greyhounds (3-6) their one run.
