BETHEL — Eric Lowell ripped an RBI single in the fifth inning that plated Tyler Cherkis as Telstar snuck past Madison 5-4 to post its first win of the season.
Lowell led the struggling Rebels (1-8) with a pair of hits, while Cole Davis had an RBI double in the third frame. Gary Williamson picked up the mound win after working thr fourth and fifth innings.
Chase Malloy led the Bulldogs (4-7) with two hits and two RBIs.
Mountain Valley 10, Mt. Abram 6
RUMFORD — Adam Volkernick scattered seven hits to pick up the win as Mountain Valley overpowered Mt. Abram 10-6 in MVC baseball action Monday.
Colin Merrill led the Falcons (6-3) with three hits, while Dylan Akers and Volkernick each belted out two hits.
Calum Dixon and Shane White led the Roadrunners (3-6) with two hits apiece, while reliever Jonathan Hart suffered the loss.
Monmouth 12, Wiscasset 6
MONMOUTH — After watching Wiscasset put up six runs in the first frame, Monmouth took the lead in the third frame and raced away to post a 12-6 win in mid-season MVC baseball action Monday.
Billy Cummings led the Mustangs (8-2) with three hits in the contest, while Alex Curtis and Devin West each had two. Nathan Gagne struck out seven, walked one and gave up three hits in relief to notch the win.
Darin Wood and Dylan McMahon led the Wolverines (3-6) with two hits apiece.
St. Dom’s 21, Boothbay 0
AUBURN — Zak Johnson, Michael Bryant and Ray Mosca combined on a five-inning no-hitter Monday, and St. Dom’s remained unbeaten in MVC baseball with a 21-0 trouncing of Boothbay.
Jimmy Theriault, Mitch Lorenz and Mike Richard each had three of the Saints’ 14 hits. Theriault and Bryant each doubled. Lorenz landed a triple.
Johnson snagged his fifth win of the spring on the hill for St. Dom’s (10-0).
Hall-Dale 11, Lisbon 2
FARMINGDALE — Ryan Sinclair scattered six hits over the seven-inning route and Hall-Dale hustled to a 11-2 victory over Lisbon in more mid-season baseball action.
Zac Macnaughton led the Bulldogs (4-6) with two hits and two RBIs, while Colin Lush and Nate Crocker combined for five hits and four RBIs.
The Greyhounds (5-7) were paced by Brett Gravel with two hits and one RBI, while Brandon Hovey belted a triple and scored a run.
Fryeburg 4, Poland 3
FRYEBURG — Trailing by two after six innings, Fryeburg rallied back for two runs in the seventh and eighth frames to squeak out a 4-3 win over Poland in a WMC baseball tilt Monday.
Ian MacFawn hurled nine innings of solid baseball for the Raiders (5-5), allowing six hits in the contest.
The Knights (5-5) were paced by Kaleb Bridgham with a pair of hits, highlighted by an RBI double. Shawn Murphy suffered the loss after working that tough eighth frame.
Winthrop 6, Oak Hill 4
WINTHROP — Jared Hanson hurled seven innings of four-run baseball and improved his personal record to 3-0 as Winthrop topped Oak Hill, 6-4, in MVC baseball.
Winthrop came out on top with six runs in the first two innings against Oak Hill ace Ryan Riordan. Jared Glazier releived Riordan in the third inning and shut out Winthrop the rest of the afternoon.
Drew Stratton, Zack Steele, Dakota Carter, and Ben Allen all had two hits for the Ramblers (8-1). Hanson secured the win with some solid pitching in the seventh with runners in scoring position. Riordan took the loss on the mound for the Raiders (4-5), while Dalton Therrien chipped in with two hits.
Dirigo 8, Spruce Mountain 0
DIXFIELD — Kaine Hutchins ignited the Dirigo offense by launching a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth as the Cougars shut down Spruce Mountain 8-0 on Monday.
Hutchins helped his own effort by giving up just three hits and striking out eight through seven innings for the Cougars (8-2). T.J. Frost smacked three hits to go along with two each from Spencer Trenoweth and Jack Brown.
Scottie Hall took the loss on the mound for the Phoenix (6-4). while Payton Kennison delivered two hits.
Buckfield sweeps
JACKMAN — Jonah Williams had a hot hand, striking out 18 batters as Buckfield baseball topped Forest Hills in the first game of two 7-3.
Keenan Stockdale had two doubles on the day that drove in four runs all together. Stockdale, Jeff Pepin, and Ben Strout all had two hits on the day for the Bucks.
Matthew Turner helped his effort pitching for the Tigers with two hits and a homerun in the fourth.
In the nightcap, Stockdale and Pepin got the job done at the plate for Buckfield in a 15-4 rout.
Stockdale smacked a homerun to go along with another hit, while Pepin scattered three hits in the game. Dalton Hart got the win on the mound for the Bucks (5-1), giving up just four earned runs on seven hits.
Derick Ouellette sliced three hits to go along with two from Tanner Daigle for the Tigers (6-3).
Lacrosse
St. Dom’s 16, Mountain Valley 4
AUBURN — Nick Hatfield erupted for eight goals and four assists Monday, staking St. Dom’s to its second straight Class B boys’ lacrosse win, 16-4 over Mountain Valley.
Dalton Lorenz added four goals and Grant Carrier collected three for the Saints (2-5). Austin Glover scored twice to lead the Falcons (0-8).
