POLAND — The third annual Newfoundland Day will be held starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at Mel’s Hilltop Restaurant, 543 Maine St., Route 26, Poland Spring Resort.

The event will feature a Screeching In Ceremony, giveaways and more.

This event will bring people together who are originally from Newfoundland as well as local Maine people. Lots of information about Newfoundland will be available.

Become an honorary Newfie by taking the Newfoundland pledge and kissing the fish.

As one person stated at last year’s event, “This is the most hilarious thing I have seen in a long time.”

Irish and Newfoundland music will be performed by the Squid Jiggers.
