LEWISTON — A free presentation on genetic testing for cancer will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the Lepage Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.
The recent headlines about Angelina Jolie’s elective double mastectomy have people talking about genetic testing. Genetic testing can determine if a person carries the “cancer gene,” making them more susceptible to the disease.
The process of genetic testing, the cost and what to do with the results will be discussed during a special presentation by Dr. Mahesh Pandey, an oncologist and hematologist with St. Mary’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and Dorothy Guild, a nurse coordinator and patient navigator at St. Mary’s Breast Health Program.
Pandey and Guild will explore the pros and cons of the health issue. Following the presentation, the experts will be available to answer questions.
To register for the free presentation, call 777-8458.
