WILTON — A service to celebrate the life of Paul Newell Mosher was held Saturday at the Wiles Remembrance Center with the Rev. David Smith, Wilton UCC officiating. Psalm 100 and Psalm 121 were recited by the Rev. Smith. Mr. Mosher’s granddaughter, Jolyn Wijetunga, vocalist and guitarist, sang “Maggie,” followed by the Rev. Dr. Richard Waddell, AHCH Hospice chaplain offering personal words and reading “My Creed” by Edgar Guest. Scripture readings included Matthew 25:34-40 and First Corinthians 13. Jolyn then sang one of her grandfather’s favorites, “Twilight and On the Trail.” The Rev Smith shared one of Paul’s writings, titled “Going to School” and Jolyn lead the congregation in singing “Peace in the Valley.” The Rev. Dr. Douglas Dunlap, FMH chaplain and former church pastor of Paul’s, gave the eulogy. The service was concluded with Jolyn’s musical interpretation of the Hopi Prayer, “Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep.” Following services, all were invited to a reception of light refreshments and reminiscing at the center. Following cremation, private family committal prayers will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton, with the Rev. Smith officiating.
