Richard Stone fills his shelves with fishing tackle at Stone’s Bait and Tackle in Lewiston on Friday. Stone is anticipating a busy weekend since Saturday and Sunday are free fishing days across Maine. To encourage fishing, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife will allow people to fish for free without a license on June 1-2. “I will sell a lot of night crawlers this weekend,” Stone said. Free fishing weekend attracts a lot of avid fishermen who want to take their wife and children fishing for a day, Stone said. Sabattus Pond is a good spot to take people who want to catch fish, but who are not fussy about what kind of fish they catch. “If you’re throwing worms, you would have a tough time not catching a fish on Sabattus,” Stone said.
